Exclamation Huge Problem with Corrupted File: cannot save, copy or repair.

I have a macro enabled sheet I developed at work to generate paychecks for the company employees.

It have been used for more than one year and contains A LOT of information (the workbook has over 50 mb). Information, by the way, that I have stored in no other place.

I'm not the only user, there is another employee that use it aswell.

In this month usage a critical problem happened.

Whenever we try to save the workbook excel prompts this message:

    1_1.png

Translation: "Erro when saving "c:\.......". Microsoft Excel may be able to save the file removing or repairing some resources/data. To perform the repairs in a new file, click in Continue. To cancel the file saving, click on Cancel."

After I click continue, the regular "Saving As" window shows up, I type in a new file name and it tries to perform the repairs.

    After a while, this prompts:

    3_3.png

Translation: "Excel found errors when saving. However, Excel could save the archive minimally in C:\.........."

    Then, after the "OK":

    4.png

Translation: "Error in "xxxxx.xlsm", but Excel could save the file removing or repairing the resources/data listed below.

In the textbox: "The damage in the file was so wide that it was not possible to perform the repais. Excel tried to save the formulas and the values, but some data might be lost or corrupted."

At the bottom: "Click to show the repair listings of the log file: C:\............"

The log file, which is more than useless (I can't attach it, It is reconized as an invalid file when I try to upload), says this:

    5.png

Translation of the first portuguese part tagged as <summary>: "Errors detected in the file c:......"

And the part tagged as <Info>: "The damage in the file was so wide that it was not possible to perform the repais. Excel tried to save the formulas and the values, but some data might be lost or corrupted."

Don't mind the diference in the file name in some of the prompts, for some reason, some of the prompts use the old file name (before the corruption) and some the new filename (the one I typed in as a new file when repairing).

I'm desperate. The data on the workbook is really really important. And I have tried everything I could and known, believe me.

The one thing that I wanted to do but couldn't is to copy every worksheet on this workbook and paste into another workbook. The problem, right now, is that I can't even open a new file in excel to paste into it (it's a lack of resources problem, which asks me to close services to free resources, even when the only software opened is excel itself, which cannot be closed unless I lose the file that, as you can see, cannot be saved).

I'm not an expert, at the same time, I'm not dumb. But solving this is beyond my knowledge.

My coworker is not sure when was the last time she saved the workbook and filled A HUGE AMOUNT OF data on the sheet such as work hours, overtime, days missed, salary, taxes, anyway, it's, at least, 2 or 3 days of data typing.

I do know how irresponsible it is to not keep all her work saved as she does it, and we have discussed about this already, so please, let's keep this off the thread subject.

    Thanks in advance

In a new workbook, can you enter a formula like:
    ='C:\Users\ADM\Desktop\[CPBP.xlsm]Sheet1'!A1
and then fill it across and down as far as necessary to return the data at least? (repeat for other sheets)

I can't open new workbooks. I state it in the thread. It's a lack of resources problem.

Even If I could, it would only solve it partially.

Let me give you a glimpse of what the workbook is:

A workbook, with vba routines, with around 100 worksheets inside,

each one of them represents the history of each one of the company employees, and each worksheet contains data, formulas, some more related vba routines, and a lot of conditional formating, which makes it readable.

Without the conditional formatting it becomes impossible to read.
Without the formulas, it does not work, obviously.
Without the vba routines, a big part of it becomes unpractical (if I solve the two problems above, this one I can just fix manually, since it's not too much line codes)

Re: Huge Problem with Corrupted File: cannot save, copy or repair.

I was talking about doing it with the problem workbook closed (that's why the path is in the formula).

At this point, I suspect getting the data back may be the best you can hope for, unless you have a backup copy of the workbook, but you could try file recovery software. (I have no experience of any such programs and I suspect this thread will attract a lot of spam now).

If I close the workbook I lose the last data.

I have tested 2 file recovery softwares. Both does nothing but extract numbers and/or formulas, and the recovered file have a lot of unmatched data.
