Changing from 2010 to 2013 speed / calculation issues

I have recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and installed Excel 2013 from office 365.

File created / updated in Excel 2007 and 2010 now take 4 times the length of time to run in 2013 compared with 2010 or 2007.

I know the first time the files are opened they will fully calculate, but even after this the file macro routines (as I say usually 1 hour in full) now take over 4 hours to run....

Calculation takes forever on open and close.

Anyone else had and more importantly fixed this issue?

    Hi,

Try putting in some code to turn off your screen updating. See http://www.cpearson.com/excel/optimize.htm for more ways to improve the speed of code.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

I tried various things yesterday from searching the web - and one of them must've worked as the overnight run took 1 hour. I think un ticking and then re-ticking the "disable hardware graphics accelerator" box might have done it.
