Difference between Parenthesis and Negative Values

Hi All,

I have a table of numbers that are both negative, positive, and that can be ignored. I am trying to summarize the values at the bottom for both the largest positive and smallest negative. The problem I am having is currently it is pulling the parentheses values if they are smaller than the negative ones. Is there a way to ignore the numbers circled in parentheses all together? Thanks for any advice help i get.

I recommend you upload a file so that we can see the actual circumstance of your problem. What I can tell now is that you can use the following function:
=CELL("format",REFERENCE)
where REFERENCE is a cell you want to check if it has a parenthesis format. The CELL function will return text "F2" for such cells. You can add an additional column in front of your original column of data and check this for every record. Make next dependent columns if necessary, and finally calculate the Max/Min of all your data with the calls having parenthesis (as their format) excluded. I hope this helps.
