    CSV with 2 decimal places?

I have to save files to CSV so I can upload them to a accounting software.

Only with CSV you can only have one decimal place, for example 56.4 instead of 56.40

Also with the date there is only single digits for example 11/6/2014 instead of 11/06/2014

I already tried formatting the columns before saving, but it does not save.

I don't know a work around this. Any suggestions?

did you tried to open the csv file with notepad after saving it?
don't open the csv file with excel.
if you want to open the saved csv in excel
    Data--->Import Data
    Step 1 select 'Delimited'
Step 2 select 'Comma' and hit next
Step 3 From 'Data Preview Area' select all
from the group 'Column Data format' select Text
    click Finish.
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

That is incorrect. Save As CSV writes values to the file as they appear in the cell. So if you format 56.4 as Number with 2 decimal places and 11/06/2014 as Custom mm/dd/yyyy, that is how they appear in CSV file.

To confirm, open the CSV in Notepad or the equivalent.

Your confusion arises because you probably open the CSV using Excel. In that case, Excel formats cells based on the same default rules that it uses when we enter data into cells formatted as General. Data that Excel interprets as dates are formatted as Date; times are formatted as Time; percentages are formatted as Percentage; etc.

For the most part, we cannot control that. Remember that CSV files have no format information, by definition.

As vlady explains, we can import the CSV instead of opening it, and select entire columns to be treated as text. However, the "numeric" data does become text. In some cases, that will change the way that Excel treats the data. For example, SUM(A1:A10) will return zero instead of the sum of the numeric text.

No matter. As long as the data is written to the CSV file correctly, the interpretation of the data will depend on the accounting software, not Excel.
