Conditional Formatting Query

Hi Everyone,

Is there a way where just the background color/format will be copied not the value in it? For example, in the attached file all VL are colored blue while all SL and A are colored red. What I want to happen is when I copy sheet 1 to a new sheet and change all VL to 8, the color will remain.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Re: Conditional Formatting Query

I think you need vba to do that. someone here could give a hand on that.
as alternative
select the data -> paste it in ms word ->then copy the data in ms word ->paste it back to excel
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

Re: Conditional Formatting Query

VBA.. Range.DisplayFormat. is a good option, however..

* Save the file as .mht file (HTML) and re-openning the file, will
save the Color formatting but loose the Conditional Formatting..

Just a mimic of vlady's trick, without using another application..

Re: Conditional Formatting Query

You could try Copy/Paste Special/Paste Formats
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Re: Conditional Formatting Query

I already did that fdibbins but every time I change VL to 8, the color/format changes. What I would like to happen is even if i change the value, the format will remain.

conditonal formatting.zip here is the zipped version.. forum is not allowing to upload mht file..
now you can open the same in excel.. and you can copy with "Formatting without Conditional Formatting"
