I have 2 lists of phone numbers. I need to remove all numbers from the small list thats on

    Hi,
I have to lists. One large list of phone numbers. One smaller list of numbers. I need to delete all numbers from the smaller list that is on the large list. And then only have the modified scrubbed list. The large list also has commas that need to be removed first i assume. I know this is easy for someone that knows excel but i can't figure out how to do it and i have tried for many frustrating hours before succumbing to defeat. Can you walk me through this please? I have 5 lists to do this to so i need to know how.

    Thanks, Bob

    To attach a Workbook
    • Click Advanced (next to quick post),
    • Scroll down until you see "Manage Attachments",
    • Click that then select "add files" (top right corner).
    • Click "Select Files" find your file, click "open" click "upload"
    • Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
    • Click "Done" at bottom right to close the Attachment Manager.
    • Click "Submit Reply"

    Hi Bobster0007,

I think that protonLeah is inviting you to upload your workbooks (sheets) to this site so that they can see what your problem is. If you do chose to do that - be careful that your workbooks don't contain private or personal details.

I'm a total noob here, so I can only really help with one part of your query - the commas:

Open the sheet, hit CTRL + F to open the 'find/replace' box, select 'replace' then in the 'find what' box, insert a comma and in the 'replace with' box leave it blank/empty. Hit 'replace all' and you should then replace all commas with 'nothing' - ie: delete all commas.

As to the other problem - sounds like you're trying to identify and delete from the smaller list, any numbers that are 'duplicated' in the bigger list? Both lists are in separate 'workbooks'? (so, separate excel files)

Not your actual data, we dont need that, just small fake data that explain your problem, to make sure the solutions not goes wrong.

    Thanks
