    Post Activation Sheet Analaysis

    Hi
I would like to make an analysis of the data mentioned in the table for the activation per every single day. What is the best way to make such an analysis?

    The data as below:

    ACTIVATION_DATE CITY DEALER_NAME_CITY
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/20/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/20/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/20/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/21/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/21/2014 0:00 Giza Mona

    أهلاً وسهلاً

Based on the data you have shown I am guessing that a pivot table will provide just about any analysis that you might want. But you haven't said anything about what you want to analyze, what is the purpose of the analysis, etc. That is, we can tell you how to do it but you have to tell us what you want to do.

What I need to do is to make an analysis for these activation data per the date. I am soory, I have just noticed that in my first thread I mentioned just one date. I have just edited it.

Appreciate it if you let me know the best and the most professional way to do that.

As previously suggested, a Pivot table is probably what you want.

Here is your data giving daily results.

Thank you newdoverman. I really much like the idea.

But what if I would like to add extra data for example (Name of the dealer, and mobile number) and if I would like to edit the data ( for example changing the name of one of the cities). Is it possible for me to do that in the Excel sheet that you sent?

The Pivot table is a summary of the sourced data. All changes to what the Pivot table processes is done in the source data. If your data is expanding, then the source data definition for the Pivot table has to be expanded to reflect reality. The easiest way to do this is by having the source data in a table. As you add to the source table the data can be made available to the Pivot table by right clicking in the Pivot table and choosing REFRESH. If new columns have been added they will show up in the field list. You then add those entries either under ROW LABELS or VALUES depending upon what is in the columns.

This expanded example demonstrates the addition of the City and telephone numbers and an amount for each location.

Thank you so much. I greatly much appreciate your support

A small question realted to this topic if you don't mind. I found that you made a column for (Amount) just wanted to make sure if is it for the amount of the lines that have been sold. If yes, so it should be 1 line for all of the column. I think that it helps to calculate the total. Am I correct?

    Re: Activation Sheet Analaysis

I took a guess that each location would have some amount associated with it like the number of widgets sold by a dealer on a given date. It was for demo purposes only. Just because it is in the source data doesn't mean that it has to be included in the Pivot table. If you uncheck it in the field list and refresh the Pivot table, that column will disappear.

If you change the values under the Amount in the source data to all 1s and then refresh the Pivot table, you will have 1s down the column with a total at the bottom.

Pivot tables are quite versatile for creating summaries of data.

    Re: Activation Sheet Analaysis

I wonder if there is any way to add two things to this table

The first thing is to make a total of the amount of line to every governerate to be as below (as an example)

    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/20/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai

    Total: 10 Lines

    11/20/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/20/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/21/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/21/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/22/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/22/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/22/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/26/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/27/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    Total: 10 Lines

The second thing: is to make a cell for a total per day to be as below as an example:

    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/19/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai

    Total: 9 Lines

    11/20/2014 0:00 Cairo Mai
    11/20/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/20/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/21/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/21/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/22/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/22/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/22/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/26/2014 0:00 Giza Mona
    11/27/2014 0:00 Giza Mona

    Total: 11 Lines

This looks to me like you are grouping the data by week. If that is the case, click in the date column, right click and choose GROUP BY then choose DAYS. Set the starting date (will be the start of the week) and set the number of days to be 7 (one week).

This is how it turns out.

    Re: Activation Sheet Analaysis

On a related issue, I wonder if we can make an analysis for the same data in another sheet ( sheet 2 that can analyze the trend of the dealers. I need to know the trend of the dealer. If it is increasing per day and per governorate or not.

    Re: Activation Sheet Analaysis

Other worksheets can/should be used to analyse your data. The Pivot table and charts can be created on other worksheets.

Right now, the data that you have presented doesn't show any productivity stats that can be charted or show trends. Trends can be shown on graphs that can be created just like the Pivot table in fact there is a Pivot chart that you can use. Choose the type of chart and it is created pretty much for you.

This website would be a good place for you to visit and take in some of the tutorials and demos that they have http://www.contextures.com/
