Sorting data

I have a sheet with a lot of data but I would like to be able to click on the top of a selected column to sort that column largest to smallest or vice versa. First can this be done and second if I do this then all the data in the other columns will have to adjust at the same time or it will not work. Possible?

You can apply a filter to the top row then use that to sort either ascending or descending.

The first row is the Column titles but it seemed to work and sort the data below. Am I doing it right then?
