Conditional Formatting - shading three cells based on value of the first

    Hi All,
First of all Happy New Year to everyone.
I have a small allocation sheet (attached) consisting of four columns.
Each name in column B is allocated a room - column C, along with the person in that room - column D.
What I need to do is to be able to shade all three columns based upon the name in column B.

I've been able to work out the conditional formatting to get varying shades in column B vertically, but am unable to work out how to progress the shading across columns C and D.

The names in column B will change periodically and could be up to 10 different people and each should have their own shading colour.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi, and a happy new year.

Instead of using the Cell value for the CF use the Formula option and specify formats like
    =$B1="Tom Piggot"
    =$B1="Yvonne Smith"

    ...etc

and apply these to the whole range $B$1:$E$43

I don't know what colours that you want but here is your workbook with CF applied to 3 columns and a different colour for each person.
