Question Dependent dropdown lists

1. A job might be considered a hot job or it might not be.
2. If a Job is hot I choose the dropdown and it is denoted HJ in yellow color
3. However when the Job is closed (C) or expired ( E) [second dropdown] the HJ must change automatically and become the blank dropdown.
How would I achieve it ?

Please see attached Excel file

Any help much appreciated

Thanks !!

only with VBA. The DD cell with contain data, but for it to change automatically, it would need to contain a formula - this would be replaced the very next time you use the DD

A possible option would be to use Conditional Formatting to change the font color to mach the background color so it appears empty...however, it will still actually contain whatever was selected last
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Re: Dependent dropdown lists

Just one quick query..How would I apply the same conditional formatting to rows below to 15,0000. It works fine for row1. To go manually and do the conditional formatting for all 15,000 rows would be very cumbersome and take too much of time.
Sorry for being such a patzer in excel.

from your PM...
Just one small query

I applied it to the first cell it works fine...but when i drag till row 15,000 ( by clicking on lower right hand corner) and save the sheet...the same conditional formatting does not work for the rows below... am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
Check that your references in the CF are not absoluted ($) Instead of =$A$1, use =A1

For the question in post #6, the quickest way to adjust the range is in the "Applies to" box in the 1st CF window
