Open xls file is unreasonable slow.

Hi All,

I have a xls file which contain a table (last col is XW, last row is 8000). The computer is very slow to edit the file.
When I delete large data, say 10 col. The computer may be halted.

I try to delete all data and save as a new file. The file is almost havn't any data but the computer edit the new file is still very slow. Please find attached file for the new file.


Would you help to suggest how to speed up the file without change the file extension(xls)? Many Thanks.

if save as xlsx file , It may be better. But the file already have no data. I input a cell. the computer almost have one second delay.
It is not normal and reasonable. I really want to know the reason and the situation.

I opened it in Excel 2013 and saved it as .xlsx.
The file is bigger but opens in much less time

After saving it back as an .xls it opens much more quickly.
