How do supersede conditional formats in cells that I want to custom format?

Hello,

I created a Gantt chart where I have a calender with dates in the columns and, using conditional formatting, I highlighted all columns that are weekend dates as well as today's date column.

The problem now is, when I try to format a row of cells that crosses over the cells highlighted by my conditional formatting rules, the highlighted cells take precedence. How do I change it so that the conditional formats are sent to the back of the display order when I add edits on top of it? Can I even do this?

I've included the template I'm working on and highlighted some cells across a row to demonstrate the problem.
