Pivot Table Issues - Excel 2003

I am trying to create some automated reports and have found that the easiest way to do this was using pivot tables.

This seemed to be working well until it came to creating templates for 2015.

I have added some dummy fields to enable a formatted pivot table, but am now having issues as a cell is returning data I need it to ignore.

Below is an extract from the data I am having problems with

    a b c d e
1 Date in date required date out overdue met

    2 11-01-15 15-01-15 14-01-15 1
    3 11-01-15 15-01-15 16-01-15 1

The overdue and met cells are calculated based on the previous 3 dates.

The overdue is calculated by using the formula =if(c2>b2,1,"") which in this instance would return " "
The met is calculated by using the formula =if(c2<=b2,1,"") this in this instance will return a 1.

The problem I am having is that if the dates are all blank it still returns a 1, which suggests that the date has been met.

I am ok with excel, but not great. Any help would be appreciated.

    many thanks
