    Question Removing text from cells

    Hello!

I am trying to find a way to go through 500+ columns and remove certain words that vary throughout the columns. Is there any quick way to leave certain words in each cell? For example, I want to leave the words right, left, knee, arthroplasty and hip, but I want to remove various other words such as adductor, block, protheses and many more. The number of words I want to remove is much greater than the words I want to keep.

If the list of words are not many, you can do a Ctrl + A to select all the cells, then use the replace shortcut Ctrl + H to remove all the words

    Re: Removing text from cells

Unfortunately there are 50+ varying words! Let me know if I can clarify further.

Perhaps another example. In many cells there is several phrases I would like to keep (i.e. left turning signal replaced, right tire replaced, partial brake revision). In these cells there is a variety of more descriptive explanations that I do not which to keep (i.e. brand, make, model type of information or what tools they used for each "repair"). So I am trying to get rid of the extra information in each cell and keeping the phrases I have listed above.

This might requires some VBA coding. Can you post a sample file.

There are probably 50 or 60 individual words that I would need to remove.

    Re: Removing text from cells

If the words are in a column and don't have unneeded spaces etc., I think that someone with VBA experience would be able to write a macro that would loop through your list of words and remove them maybe by taking advantage of the replace function in Excel.....I don't think that this would be a quick process though.

Oh I wish that I knew how to use VBA!
