Comine Cells to match size of adjacent column header but split horizontally

    Hi all,
I'm trying to create a table that has a cell that is my column header. The cell, in this case -B2, I want to have "setting depth" as the top portion, but split this cell with "soil", "rock", and "10%+2". I want it to match the size of the "pole size" cell - A2.

Please look at table 3 in the included file.

    Many thanks

    Hi Araki
I did this two different ways. They are in attached file below the original table on sheet Table3.
Pole Loading Calcs Tables 1 and 2.xlsx
In the first table I selected A3 then <Copy>.
    Then select cells B3:D3.
Goto <Paste Special> and select "Column Widths".
This makes the three columns the same size as the first one.

In the second table I selected A3:D3.
Goto Home ribbon, Cells panel and select "Format"
Go down to "Column Width" and set it to 15.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey Steebo,
Thanks for the reply, but It's not what I'm going for. I'd like to get B3:D3 to all "fit" under "Setting Depth" - that way I keep the column headings, BUT they are the same size as "Pole Size" cell.

    Thanks again,

Sorry I misunderstood. I would like to figure this out though. When you say ' "fit" under "Setting Depth" ' , do you mean inside the same borders? How about this one.

Yeah, that's basically it. How do you get the 3 column headings into that "same" cell?

Ok. Your spreadsheet helped. I think you just need to "play" around with the borders and font size.

Thanks for your help, it was very useful.

Yeah just play around with it. I merged the "Pole Size" cell with the cell below it. Then I removed the borders from B3:D3. Then selected B2:D3 and applied outside border.
