How do I extract a specific dimension from a list of lengths? (ex: 2x3.5"x10.5")

I'm not sure how else to search for this answer, and I've seemingly been everywhere trying to find help in the last hour. Joining a forum seems like my only option. So hey!

Haha anyway, I've got a list of thousands of parts with various dimensions. The cells containing the dimensions don't only have numbers in them, as they also have abbreviated descriptions of the parts. But my task is to extract the thickness into one column, the widths into another, etc.

It seems the most challenging part will be the lengths, as the original cells all have them in feet, and I'm supposed to have them all in inches in the new column. So that will require extracting the number, and then multiplying by 12...obviously.

This is probably a relatively easy question to answer--considering what I've read while trying to pinpoint this formula--but any help for this Excel newbie would be appreciated. Thanks!

How does your data look when input into a cell?

Here is an example of one of the cells--C2-- LUM,CGD,2X10X10'0", with the proceeding cells needing to read...

    D2-2
    E2-10
    F2-120

So in response to you, Sour, you actually did more to the data than I needed :D

However, when I try to copy and paste your formula in, and then substitute the A1 for the cell with my data, I got a value error. Any idea what gives?

There's a wrinkle with this setup that may throw off sourabhg's formula. Why the distinction of 0 inches? Why not 10? Will there never be inches associated with the length and width values?

That's the same question I asked when I was inputting the data. There are even a couple that say things like 2x4x0'2.5"; the "0" makes 0 sense.

The lengths are 2 feet on all of the thousands of parts besides a couple, the width is pretty evenly spread between inches and feet, and the thickness is almost always x feet, x inches.

    A couple more examples:

    LUM,KDAT,2X4X10'10.5"

    LUM,KDAT,RTW,2X5"X1'3.5"

Not sure how much that will help, or if it's just getting more confusing the more I try to explain..
