Asymmetric data matching

Dear all,

I'm attaching the final sheet for my project

In brief

Similar entries from columns A & B to be matched with the rest of the columns

NOTE : Entries in column A directly correspond with F, G, H and I
Entries in column B directly correspond with C, D and E

This is related to my earlier thread

Re: Asymmetric data matching

There are some similar entries in A & B

And as mentioned, entries in A directly correspond with F,G,H and I

And B corresponds with C,D,E

So I want all this data extracted into another sheet or same sheet in columns beyond I

Re: Asymmetric data matching

hi achilles.a .

Sorry to say your requirement is still not clear .
is this what your are trying to achieve
1) Copy Similar Tissue ID in column A & B to a separate Sheet
2) Then bring the corresponding data like data Column A : F,G,H and I and for Column B : C,D,E
If not clear me

Re: Asymmetric data matching

I can see no link between the columns you mention. Please provide a few sample answers in your file, and explain how you got them
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Re: Asymmetric data matching

My apologies for being unclear

Punnam..you are correct 100%

Finally there will 1 excel sheet with columns from A to H (as A and B will be merged)

Re: Asymmetric data matching

Here's my take on this - very similar to the previous file I sent to you.

Hope this helps.

Re: Asymmetric data matching

Thank you all for your help

@Pete..with reference to the earlier file you sent me, the final number of tissues and surgeries is 235 and thus it has to be the same in the new file also. But the new count is coming to 62 which isn't possible

I don't know what is wrong..the original entries were 299 which after filtering came to 235..each tissue corresponding to 1 surgery

So basically this new file should also have 235 surgeries and tissues and their corresponding CD HEX CV SD Age Gender values

Re: Asymmetric data matching

Hello all

My apologies for the confusion

There was some miscommunication between me and the staff

I'm resubmitting the files for analysis for the year 2012..the age and gender I'll add manually later

Once the solution is found, I'll replicate for the later years

Apologies once again

Specular file contains data which is of interest and is a subset of the Surgery 2012 file

I need the common entries combined across both the workbooks

Thank you

Re: Asymmetric data matching

Thank you Pete for your reply

For 2013 and 2014 data, I have to follow which steps? The one you mentioned in 2012 sheet or common sheet?

Re: Asymmetric data matching

Do both.

To make it even easier for you, I've removed all the data so you can use the attached as a template.

Do what it says in the Data sheet first, then the Common sheet. Use File | Save As to save the file with a different name, so the template remains unchanged.

Hope this helps.

Re: Asymmetric data matching

You ARE the guru, aren't you Pete?

I'm attaching the 2013 and 2014 file, I'll later copy paste the data with age and gender - paste as special to make it free from the formula

Please have a look

Re: Asymmetric data matching

I've only looked at the 2013 file - you seem to have got the hang of it, although you have copied the formulae in the Common sheet further than you need to (to row 247), so you end up with a few blank rows in the Analysis sheet (do CTRL-End to find the last used cell).

If you are pasting in the Age and Gender, ensure that the rows tie in with those in the Analysis sheet.

Please mark the thread as SOLVED if you think it is.

Pete
