    Undo Redo Grayed out

    Hi Guys

I am using Excel 2013 and the undo / redo buttons are grayed out also CtrlZ and CtrlY have no effect.
    Any suggestions.
    I have looked at
    HTML Code:
but this refers to 2010 and I don't want to muck up everything. I read that somehow I may have reset the number to 0.

    Re: Undo Redo Grayed out

Chances are it would be the same but 15.0 as the version. However, if it's greyed out, it probably means one of three things:

    1. you haven't made any changes
    2. you have undone all the changes you have made; but, in that case, the Redo button would be available to undo the undo, as it were
    3. You have run a VBA macro or a VBA event handler has fired, in which case the Undo history will be cleared.

So, assuming you HAVE made changes, and the Redo button is also greyed out, is the workbook macro enabled?

    Regards, TMS

    Hi TMS
Yes you have it. Just tested. Macros running are stopping the undo. I enter something the undo highlights and then a fraction later goes grey. At lest I am a little closer. But for now this is solved.
    Thanks

    Re: Undo Redo Grayed out

    Mark,
I have also come across this problem.

On doing some research, apparently the redo button is constantly greyed out in (in excel 2010 at least). This is apparently reset to 0 (redo's) and the only way to correct this is by creating additional entries through the windows registry (something which is well beyond my capabilities and which my work network would not permit my to attempt anyway). So unless you know how to do this, I'm afraid your stuck with the redo button not working. Apparently this is only a problem in excel and not in other office products such as word.

    The Undo should work fine

However after running any macro the undo stack is set to zero and therefore no undo options are available which is the norm.

IN addition, the repeat button will show the option to repeat any macro you have just run which again is the norm.

Hope this is helpful to you
