Points Table/ tally chart for club championship - Too Many Variables for me to figure out!

    Hi Guys,

I would like to think that I can get by with Excel, I use it for work fairly regular and have produced "moderate" sized worksheets usually without to much hassle (well watch a youtube video or read a forum gets me through).

Now I have volunteered to keep track of my running clubs point system for this season.
I like to try learn myself along the way but since I started making this particular spreadsheet I feel I have got nowhere, to be honest I think I have bitten off more than I can chew.

Below is a list of the variables that the spread sheet will need to have built in to it and before I go head first in to trying to achieve it I would just like some one to say "Wooooooo, slow down there junior. You're trying to cram to much in you will never mange it"
or, "yes mate, that's more than achievable so knock yourself out".

    Points Break Down

10 Points will be awarded for each race that you enter at a new distance for that year.

10 Points will be awarded for a beating your season’s best* at each distance.

5 Additional points area available each time you beat your season’s best. So your first season best nets you 10 points, if you beat that time it is worth 15 points and if you manage to beat your new best time you get 20 points and so on each time you beat your previous best time.

If you achieve an all time PB it is worth 25 Bonus points in addition to your season’s best points.

Double points will be awarded for targeted races, watch the club calendar on the website for details of these.

Each parkrun on a new course will count as a new distance. So for example if you run Brandon PR one week, then Thetford at a later date you would get 10 points for the first run at each course and season best points thereafter.

A little heads up would be appreciated,

    Thanks in advance

Re: Is this feasible or to complicated?

This is just an idea for starting your spreadsheet. No calculations have been included. The worksheet would use a table of codes for each race type and that code would be entered for each race a competitor entered. This will allow all stats for that distance/runner to be extracted as well as enable running totals as the running season progresses.
