Conditional Formatting "No cells were found"

I don't seem to be able to do any conditional formatting in Excel 2010.
Whenever I try to select a single cell or range of cells and go to Conditional Formatting, I get a popup error "No cells were found." I have tried multiple files, even opening an old 2003 file in 2010.
Any thoughts on what I should try next?

I have not seen this error except when running VBA code. Do you have any VBA code installed in the files you are trying to open, or your PERSONAL file, or do you have add-ins? How long has this been happening? When is the last time you used conditional formatting successfully? Ideally I could watch you go through these steps but it probably isn't going to happen so maybe you can post a screen shot or two that shows what is selected, and what you clicked to get into Conditional formatting, and the error dialog.

    Jeff,
I figured out my problem. There are two ways to get to "Conditional Formatting." I was going through "Find and Select" on the far right on the Home ribbon. Since I had not set up any rules yet, it wasn't finding any cells.
This time I will start with the Conditional Formatting button in the middle of the ribbon. Doh!
    Thanks for your help!
