Partial or Fuzzy Match inside PowerPivot (DAX alternative to 2^15)

    Hello Dear Friends,

I think most of the people faced with fuzzy match (partial match) problem found the following tutorial posted by Mike Girvin ExcelIsFun) and discovered a surprisingly interesting solution that starts with = LOOKUP(2^15(SEARCH(.......

Here is the url to the video tutorial:

I was wondering is there a similar solution that could be achieved with DAX inside PowerPivot. I will highly appreciate your ideas.

    Tks, N -

    Hi,

    Have you looked into:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=15011

I've seen two other different "Fuzzy" match techniques than the one you suggest with substring matching. I have no idea of Pivot Tables can use the data as it. I think in both other methods you need to create helping columns of data that is a transformation of the data to either numbers or shorthand using sound a like data. I think you'd be able to Pivot this helper column.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Hi nikkollai....the search function is a fuzzy match function by itself: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee634235.aspx

But, here are a couple of articles that the guys at powerpivotpro wrote up with clever usage of it:

    http://www.powerpivotpro.com/2014/01...was-the-match/
