Need help with Excel spreadsheet / database

Hi! Wondering if anyone could help me. This is a small sample of a very large excel database that I set up. (Please see attached worksheet.) I am trying to figure out a way how I could just click on a particular "Investor" and get an automatic list of all entities he is invested in based on the "x" , “f”, or “j” marked in the cells. I need to use it both ways also, by clicking on an entity (in header row), how could I automatically see who is invested in that entity based on the "x" marked in the cells. Also, is there a way of linking the results onto another worksheet? Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You are making the same mistake that I see time and time again. You are mixing up the two elements of data capture and final reporting. The two require quite different treatments.

A lot of people start by designing the form that they expect to see as the final report, and then wonder why it's so difficult to subsequently analyse and summarise or extract information from it, Yours exhibits all those features.

You should always capture data in a simple two dimensional table and worry about reporting information from it afterwards. Without exception doing this you will always be able to easily obtain management information. Rarely is this the case if you start the other way round.
You will also throw open the whole wonderful world of the powerful Pivot table functionality.

See attached Data sheet 2 where I have completed the data for the first 4 investors. Once you've completed the database like this you have several ways of reporting from it. You may either use Autofilter, to filter the actual data, an Advanced Filter to extract the stuff you want to another sheet or, and I would urge you to spend a little time experimenting with, a Pivot Table which I've also added.
