    Question Problem reducing a (sometimes) negative value by a fixed percentage

    Hi everyone, thanks for reading.

    I'm in need of some help creating a formula which is causing me a headache; I'm sure it's something simple.

    I need to increase a value by a percentage, say 40%, but if the value is a negative, my formula decreases the deficit rather than increasing it, which is the desired output. I appreciate mathematically it's correct, but it's not going to serve the function I've been given.

    For example;

    10,000 x 40% = 6000
    -10,000 x 40% = -6000 when I would like the output to be -14000

    I'm not sure if it's something to do with the ABS function as I haven never used it?

    Thanks so much for your help, for me these boards have been both invaluble and inspirational over the last 6 months!

    Thank you!

    I had a quick dabble and put the ABS command in the wrong cell (the sum cell). I knew it would be something simple.....

    Again, thanks so much,
