Breaking out text from a single cell

    hey All,

need a little help with breaking out text from a single cell...

in cell A3 I have part numbers/codes that vary in size and format, the one consistent feature is that they all have - used to break out the specifics of this part,
    for example

    8762-DJE5SA

once we have modified this part it gets additional data added to the existing part number/code from each department responsible for the modification.
    for example

    8762-DJE5SA-D01 or 8762-DJE5SA-F03

I have 6000+ lines with approx. 1500 part numbers/codes. what I need to do is take the data in cell A3 and show each part of the cell between each "-" in the next row/cell.
    for example

    A3 shows 8762-DJE5SA-D01
    B3 would then show 8796
    C3 would then show DJESSA
    D3 would then show D01
E3 would then show nothing or the potential 4 section of the part number/code.

is this possible or am just dreaming??
I have spent some time trying with no success!

thanks in advance for your time.

    Ian

Data -> Text to columns -> Delimited
    In other type: -

    Try this...

Make sure several columns to the right of your data is empty so it can accept the parsed data.

Select the entire range of data in question
Goto the Data tab>Text to columns
    Select: Delimited
    Click: Next
    Select: Other
In the little box enter a dash -
    Click: Finish
