I have created 4 workbooks for a client one of which refers to cells in the other 3 workbooks.
Those links appear as my directory structure (F:\ClientDirectory\[FileName... etc). Not only is his directory structure is totally different to mine, he is using Office 365 on an Apple.
Is there another way of linking these files so that the links will be picked up? Who mentioned clutching at straws?

If you can write VBA, you could instruct you client they need to open the 3 other files on their computer manually.
I'd use the line of:
Application.FindFile
which gives them a dialog they can use to open those 3 files so you don't need to hard code them into your work.

I like the idea but the link will still be 'hard wired' in the workbook and still be unfindable.
What I'm trying to achieve (I think) is to make the file reference in the cell not dependant on file structure. Its a bit like a Named Range except for files.
