How do I force Formula Calculation methods to default to Aotomatic and not Manual

    Hi all
Hope someone can help with this one as I have tried everything I can think of. All my worksheets are now defaulting to manual calculation, I have tried all the options I know i.e. open a new worksheet save as auto and reopen but nothing is working..

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    thanks
    James

The Calculation state is typically set by the state of the last workbook closed and, subsequently, the first workbook opened. You may need to open each workbook in turn and check and, if necessary, change the state and save and close the workbook.

If the first workbook opened has a Calculation state = Manual, then all subsequently opened workbooks will also have Calculation state = Manual. And will be saved with that state. PitA. But it happens.

For a while, you probably need to check each workbook when you open it.

Hi there, thanks for the speedy reply, I tried changing some to Automatic and saving but when I re-open they're back at Manual,
    am I missing something?

    Cheers

The last workbook closed must have been set to Automatic. How are changing "some" to Automatic?

My experience, and recently, is that I have downloaded a sample workbook from the forum with Calculation set to Manual and it has affected my workbooks.

If you see "Calculate" in the bottom left hand corner of the Excel Window, you'll know that something has set Calculation to Manual.
