multiple criteria - using vlookup, match or an array?

    Hi there,

I have a list of data, where I would like to use a formula that matches all 3 criteria, so that when the variables are selected in column J, a price is generated in J8.
Am I right in saying that an array formula will be slow, and a match or if formula would be better?
I have attached the spreadsheet to see.multiple criteria.xlsx

Many thanks in advance for anyone's help.

    Simon

    I'd say for J8:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Do not be afraid to use array formulas.

(The above one in post #2, despite it is not array-committed (just Enter, not Ctrl+Shift+Enter) is anyway an array formula by nature.)

The problem with array formulas slowing down the spreadsheet usually manifest only if you fave a full column (or row, or the worst - range of x columns by y rows) filled with such formulas. Then you quite often can observe how long calculations take. In case of single formula - the difference shall not be visible.
