how to use the colors in a cell

    Hello, please see attached picture.

There's a yellow-ish color we use in our spreadsheets, that I want to use to highlight the cells to the left of it. As you may notice I've erased the stuff to the left of that, sensitive company data.

Anyway I would expect once I click on the highlighted cell, that unique color would show up in the color palette at the top. But that's not happening. I could use format painter but then when I use that on numbers its not ideal. Plus its just bothering me that its not showing up. How do I do so?

    Thanks!
    Dan

The dialogue box that you show has at the bottom, More Colors.... Click on that and then click on Custom. The dialogue box will now show the definition of the colour of the active cell. Take note of those values and exit. Select the cells that you want to colour and click on the Fill Color button to get the dialogue box that you show, click on the More Colors... then click on Custom. Now, enter the values that you noted from the active cell. Once the values are entered click OK and the selected cells will now have the colour that you want.

thanks. i could do that but that seems pretty involved. in the past all i had to do was to click on a cell (or maybe click a couple times) and the color would appear in the palette. is that not possible?

I'm not saying that isn't/wasn't possible but I have never heard of that before.
