Exclamation how to add the values of the arrows showing positional change

hi am currently running a score prediction league table where the points are inputed manually i want to add arrows showing positional change and the extent of the movement that if a team was 5th on the log and now 8th after sorting i want an arrow pointing down with -3 beside it showing the team dropped by 3 spots from the previous week and +2 if they moved up by two spots to 3rd spot on the log.

I think that we would need to see how your data are laid out before making a suggestion. Providing that both positions (5th and 8th) are recoded someehere, it should be OK.

So... Please attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is enough data to demonstrate your need. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary. Remember to remove ALL confidential information first!!!

Two words in your first post - "after sorting" worry me a bit. there is a potential for that to mess things up. Would you be open to entering your data on a table that is never sorted and then using formulae to assemble the sorted results in G2 to M11?

Go to Conditional Formatting, Manage Rules, find and select the rule, click on Edit and uncheck Show Icon Only. This will give you the change in rank.

Re: how to add the values of the arrows showing positional change

This is vastly expanded but should do as you want. If you expand the listing, you will have to be careful to adjust the formulae to match the ranges in all the areas.

Re: how to add the values of the arrows showing positional change

I think I will enter the previous and currently positions manually and it will then display the positional changes that should be after sorting the total points

Re: how to add the values of the arrows showing positional change

The arrows are determined by the difference in ranking columns not the totals column. Sort on the last Rank column that is filled out (Green area). The differences in rank are noted at the end of the table (column AU). This is automatically calculated in column F.

If you add names under the table, all formulae should be automatically amended to show the new data.

Re: how to add the values of the arrows showing positional change

I have moved the table up near the top of the worksheet and over to column B for convenience and have tested the worksheet and it appears to be working properly.

Remember, sort on the last column with ranking values

Re: how to add the values of the arrows showing positional change

This is about as far as I can take the problem. Enter new names on Sheet2 and the name will be added to Sheet1. Enter the scores on Sheet1 in the shaded area and click the sort button. All the scores will be added together and the results sorted in order of rank.

Yes, I saw it. There is no way I can do anything to get that to work like that.
