Can an excel 2007 workbook be opened and used in any later version of excel

I have created a workbook in excel 2007 , and wonder if a user of a later version of excel ( e.g. excel 2010 or 2016), can open and use it.
    Thanks in advance

I've never heard of a reason to be concerned.

The challenges are in the other direction. The thing to keep in mind is when creating files in newer versions that they may not be backwards compatible. Not all functions / features in 2010 will work for earlier versions.

If you are interested this is a link I keep handy just in case I forget what functions to not use.

    Hi Michael6

I've developed Code for OP's in 2007 and 2010. The OP's had issues running that Code in 365. I was unable to troubleshoot as I don't have access to 365 (same as 2013???).

Office products are very backwards compatible. The only thing that I ran into with Excel was when I went from 32 bit to 64 bit version and the 32 bit macros wouldn't run on the 64 bit installation.

If you run into this problem, the following code will allow code to run on both 32 and 64 bit installations.

    Code from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5...64-bit-windows

The new ones are backward compatible was what I meant and thought was the aim of the OP's question ..."wonder if a user of a later version of excel ( e.g. excel 2010 or 2016), can open and use it."
