    excel 2010 question

    Hello,

Have a column with three values of R,U,C. Will call this column D..
Range of this column is from d2:d49..
The column next to it is column E with the same ranges.
The value of column E are different in each row but the formula I have for column E is this..=F7+G7+H7+I7..
This extends down from 2 through 49.
What I am trying to do is combine the results from column E with the values of column D. To get a total of each value from the number in column E . see below..
    D E

    R 1
    C 3
    R 1
    U 2
    R 1
    R 2

sooo.. with the occurrence of all values of R in column D equaling to 5 and same thing with all values of C and U.. to show an answer in a specific cell

I recently started a new job so am a bit busy and may not reply quickly. Sorry - it's not personal - I will reply eventually.
If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.
