Excel Attachment in Outlook 2010 Question

    Hi,

I'm not sure if i'm on the right forum but i'm just getting a hard time with sending my file.

I have a .xlsm file that's about 46mb that i have to send to a recipient, i understand that the file is too big so i sent it to a compressed (zip) folder.
It then showed the file as 2mb, I attached it to my email (MS Outlook 2010) and sent it.
My recepient was able to see the compressed folder attachment, but what's inside was a .txt file which is only 4kb.

I checked on the available space of both our outlook and we both have more than 100mb free space. What do you experts think about this?

Re: Excel Attachment in Outlook 2010 Question

Difficult to know without more details of what was in the text file.
First thing I can suggest is increasing the attachment size limit in Outlook to allow you to send the 46MB file (see this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2222370) - but only if the recipient can receive that size of file.
I think a better solution would be to upload the file to an online folder (something like Dropbox) and let the recipient download it from there - most cloud storage services allow you to share a link to one particular file or folder without sharing the whole account. (Do consider any confidentiality/privacy issues if you're doing this though!)

I recently started a new job so am a bit busy and may not reply quickly. Sorry - it's not personal - I will reply eventually.
If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.
