Question Allowing other users to edit content of cells but not the format

    Hello,

I am trying to design a form for my work which is to be circulated around the whole business. Essentially I want people to be able edit the content of cells without being able to edit the format. For example, one cell will need a number entered that will always begin with a 0. Creating that is not a problem, but if the format of the cell is edited, and the number is displayed without the 0 at the front it will be a pain as our system will not recognise the number without the 0. I'd like to be able to circulate this form safe in the knowledge that nobody else can change the format, but can still edit the text/numbers in required cells.

Can anybody help as I've run out of ideas!

You can try this rule in data validation >> custom

So even if they format the cell as number it won't allow them to add numbers.
Sample file attached for a reference.

I like it! This is me being a bit awkward now, is there any way to lock the rest of the formatting? I sent it to somebody to try and break and they copied a coloured cell, and it copied the colour etc too. I know this is me being picky, but worth a try :-)

According to my limited knowledge I don't think we can just lock the formats without the cell values being locked.

I had a feeling that may be the answer I got, I'm not too bad with Exel but that had me stumped as to if it was possible or not. Thanks for your help though :-)
