    Excel 2013 CTD

I have a very confusing fault. Every time I try to enter data into a WS Excel 2013 crashes. I originally thought this was a macro error but this is incorrect. I can not enter data into any cell in an old or new WB without a crash.

If I copy the workbook across a LAN to another machine everything works fine. I uninstalled MS Office via the Control Panel and reinstalled but the fault persists.

I really need your help please.

    Cheers,
    Mac

    Re: Excel 2013 CTD

I have now tried TeamViewer and can open and use the Excel WB without problem on the remote machine. To clarify ... I can not run Excel 2013 on computer "A" without it CTD as soon as I make any keyboard entry. All WB's on computer "A" are affected.

If I copy a WB from computer "A" to computer "B" and then remote control computer "B" from computer "A" using TeamViewer there is no problem and no CTD on computer "B".

Logically, if it works using teamviewer, then it can't be the software installation or macros or whatever because that's what teamviewer is using.
I assume you can view the files fine on your computer, it only crashes when you type something in the cells.
It sounds like it must be keyboard related. Either the keyboard itself, or maybe you have a virus on the computer capturing your keystrokes and it is causing a fault with excel. Actually.....if it was a keyboard logger than I think it would still log keystrokes captured through teamviewer. So I'm back to thinking you need to try a different keyboard.

Sorry if this seems too silly, but I can't think of anything else.

Edit: Ease of access / Accessability software????

    Re: Excel 2013 CTD

Thank you very much for having a go at this one. I am tearing out the last of my hair. Yes I can see the worksheets and as you suggest because the only time the CTD occurs is when I am typing, I do not even need to hit the "Enter" key, is has to be the keyboard. So I changed the keyboard a day or so back. No luck.

If I open a brand new WS I can type text eg" The quick brown fox etc." in any cell. If I then cursor down and type "1234" I get an immediate CTD with AutoSave. So when WB reopens I can still see the fox but not the numbers. It seems as though I can enter anything into a blank cell in a new WS but if I move the cursor down and then try to input I get a CTD.

OK I am going to throw a detailed Malwarebytes scan at it and will report back.

Maybe try an on-screen keyboard (software) like the ease of access one in windows. If that works then ..... well... it must be hardware. Maybe if that is the case try installing new drivers for your usb. Maybe unplug all other usb devices incase something is conflicting.. I'm really reaching now hey?

Edit: This is fairly old but still might be relevant.. Try safe mode excel.

All excellent ideas, thank you. Unplugged the USB hub and replaced with keyboard only. No change. Tried onscreen keyboard with hard keyboard unplugged. Still no go.

Edit: Now off to find out how to start Excel in Safe Mode. Well done that really is a very good idea.

    Re: Excel 2013 CTD

THAT WORKED. Very well done you. At least I can now start the WB and enter data. Progress has been made.

The Macro's had been disabled in Safe Mode, of course. So with fingers crossed I enabled them and all is still well.

What has also disappeared in Safe Mode is "KUTools", "ASP Utilities", "Enterprise", "ACROBAT" and "WinCalendar". So that group are now right in the firing line.

Now to find out how to disable them one at a time.

EDIT: solved . The problem was with "ASAP Utilities for Excel". Uninstalled the add in application and I am back in business. Many thanks for sticking with me on this one, Beamer.
