Row height keeps going back to default

I have a simple spreadsheet just for entering data, no formulas. The heading rows at the top have a size of 24. The rows under those are set to 15. Every time I enter any data in a cell, it seems to very quickly add a row and then set the height of that new row to the default of 12.75. My typed data goes into this newly created smaller row. I have many worksheets in this particular workbook and they are all formatted the same. Over half of them do this when I try to add new data. I can not figure out what the problem is or the difference in the worksheets that portray this problem and those that don't.

Are you entering data or copying data?

Entering data. Immediately after typing just 1 character, you see a row quickly inserted (at the default height) and the typed data goes in that row. Very strange.

Indeed it is, I have never heard of anything like that to date. Hopefully someone else might know something. It might have something to do with the version of Excel or perhaps an update.

This is the newest version under Office 365. I did run a macro to clear out last year's figures and then deleted the macro when finished.

one more question, is it only with that spreadsheet or does it happen with all of them.

I believe it is only that one. Before I ran the macro to clear out last year's figures, one or two of the worksheets in that file had the problem. Now they all do it.

LindaLu, did you figure it out?

I have a similar problem - I have a massive spreadsheet (143 tabs, over 700 pages when printed), all the formulas are simple sums. Most of the data has been manually entered. The row heights vary and most have been manually set - to 15, 30, 45, 60 etc. However, when I save and close at the end of the day and come back the next day, the rows have reset to a height just smaller than what they were manually set to - 13.5, 41.25, 57, etc. I assume it is somehow associated with the word wrap function, but haven't been able to find a work around or another thread with a similar issue.

Re: Row height keeps going back to default

On my spreadsheet, I have a column of general text, a column with a date, and a column with a numerical amount. It seems that after I gave the date column an "official" short date format, instead of it being "general text" the problem stopped.

Thanks - I'll try changing the problem cells to an official "text" format and see if that works.
