Monthly calendar of bills - pull out bills for a month

    Dear all,

I have a calendar of bills for the year and I would like to be able to pull out the bills for a chosen month. E.g. if a bill is paid in march and I am putting together a complete view of income and expenses for march I only need bills due in march.

I have attached an example of what I mean.

A second less important question is related to formatting. I was also wondering if formatting can be based on the category, e.g. if there are 2 rows in the category then add a line under both rows, if there are 3 then add a line under 3?

    Than-you all very very much

    K

Have you tried to use a Pivot Table?
It could well be the answer you need.

If you prefer a formula approach then try array-entering this formula in C20 fill down and across to D21.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.

Then in E20 filled down this array-entered formula.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

I don't understand the formatting part of your question. Sorry

    Hi Dave,

I am blown away. That is very elegant I guessed it would be small and rows with an index match but I lacked the ability to get it right. That is exactly what I need.

    Excellent. Thank-you very very much!

    Happy Easter

Re: Monthly calendar of bills - pull out bills for a month

    @ Dave,

I know its been a while so please let me know if I should raise a new thread?

I need to modify the formula a little to be able to report on both the Calendar and Financial year so the months will range from Jan 2016 to Jun 2017.

I can get it working for both the year and the month in cell E19 of sheet attached me but I can't seem to carry it down for some reason!

I have attached the example sheet again.

    Hi Keelin,

Try array-entering this in E19 and filling down.

or if you prefer this formula entered in E19 with just Enter and filled down.
