FInd the values from one column on another column and retrieve them in a third column

    HI,

I have an issue that i have been not able to fix.

    So i have an array of 519 names and e-mails ( D2:E262 ) and another one with 845 names and emails ( A2:B845 ).

I want to find values from the first array on the second and retrieve them on a third column in order to create an updated list and remove the 300 and something values that are not correct anymore.

    Can you help me ?

What do you use to determine which are correct and which are not correct?
Is one set of names/emails newer?

Re: FInd the values from one column on another column and retrieve them in a third column

Hi and thanks for the reply,

I dont use anything to determine if it is false since i dont want that.
IN this case i want to find the values from one column in the other and know in what position they are or to retrieve them to a third column as i mentioned before.

    *A bit of background*
This is to update a list of emails, one of the lists ( including anme and email ) is outdated and the other ( with again name and emails ) is updated.
I want to find the names of persons that are both in the updated and outdated one in order to delete the rest and keep just the ones updated.

Consider using the Index Match Function. Here is an example because I don't know what Columns your data are in.

I am not sure I have interpreted the mission correctly.

Try array entering this formula in F5 as in the attached. Fill down until you get blanks and across to column G.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.

Re: FInd the values from one column on another column and retrieve them in a third column

HI there thank you so much for the answer and the help.
I'll check if this is correct, however, just to clarify ( im sorry if it wasn't clear) ill state the mission again.

So on the columns A and B we have a list of names and emails, and on the columns D and E we have another list of names and emails.

The columns A and B are referrent to a list of users and respective emails from a while ago and the columns D and E are respective to names and emails from users that currently work here.

What i need is to identify the users that currently work here ( from columns D and E ) on the List in the columns A and B so that i can delete the others ( that are not working here anymore ) and update what needs to be updated.

So in resume, I just want to update the list (A and B) with the current workers.

Re: FInd the values from one column on another column and retrieve them in a third column

    Hi,

Looked at your spreadsheet and would comment as follows:-
    1. Using Conditional Formatting to highlight duplicates in just columns A & B, there are over 100 duplicates
    2. There are no duplicates in columns D & E
    3. Names in column A are second name then first name, whereas in column D they are first name then second name
    4. Remove all duplicates in columns A & B first
    5. Then because of 3. above highlight duplicates based on e-mails not names

    Regards
