Data validation difference between Table and none Table

Hello

I've been playing around with this for a while now and well, just to make sure I'm not going nuts I need to know this.

When using datavalidation with a List it is possible to type whatever you want if the List includes at least one empty cell. I consider this a useful feature.
However, if you have created a table and applied some datavalidation with a list, it won't let you type whatever even if the List contains an empty cell. I wish it would.
Is there a way around this? Any comments in general?

Hi Jacc,
If you have some cell with data validation with a list all you need to do if you want to write there whatever you want is uncheck error message in data validation settings.

Not sure if this is exactly solution you are looking it's just first idea that come to my mind.
