Calculating percentage and cost of an item

I am having an issue with figuring out a percentage and total cost of an item. In the example below I have 10 gift cards, the first has a face value of $120, I got it for free (Paid), the difference between is $120 giving me a 100% discount and so on. It gets hazy for me when we get down to the $189 gift card, is the percentage (saved) correct for those 4 that I paid for? and is the total percentage of 95.31% correct for all the gift cards added together? Would the total cost of the item ($999.99) be a savings of 95.31%? and what would be my cost of the item? With these numbers it looks like the $999.99 item would cost only $346.91 or 34.69%???? I hope I explained this right, if anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Sory about the formatting issue, it should look like a table.

    Gift card Paid Difference Percentage
    $120.00 $0.00 $120.00 100.00%
    $50.00 $0.00 $50.00 100.00%
    $23.90 $0.00 $23.90 100.00%
    $87.00 $0.00 $87.00 100.00%
    $37.00 $0.00 $37.00 100.00%
    $189.00 $96.18 $92.82 49.11%
    $125.00 $63.00 $62.00 49.60%
    $190.00 $96.90 $93.10 49.00%
    $178.09 $90.83 $87.26 49.00%
    $300.00 $0.00 $300.00 100.00%

    $999.99 $346.91 $953.08 95.31%

Re: Calculating percentage and cost of an item

If you add them all together it comes to $1299.99 (not 999.99) so 953.08/1299.99 expressed as a percentage is 73%

The other calculations all look fine to me

Sorry Shirley, I messed up. Disregard the last line of $300, it should look like this:

    Gift card Paid Difference Discount
    $120.00 $0.00 $120.00 100.00%
    $50.00 $0.00 $50.00 100.00%
    $23.90 $0.00 $23.90 100.00%
    $87.00 $0.00 $87.00 100.00%
    $37.00 $0.00 $37.00 100.00%
    $189.00 $96.18 $92.82 49.11%
    $125.00 $63.00 $62.00 49.60%
    $190.00 $96.90 $93.10 49.00%
    $178.09 $90.83 $87.26 49.00%

    $999.99 $346.91 $653.08 65.31%
