    Pivot table help

Hello, I've created a pivot table and the pivot table has a unique identifier for each person in my table. Some people have one row in the table, some people have 10 rows in the table. I want to see how many total people I have in my pivot table, not how many rows (again, some people have multiple rows). I think that I need to find the "distinct value" for some reason that is what I keep thinking, but I'm not sure if that is the correct option. And if it is the correct option, that I need to count the number of distinct rows, how do I do that? Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi ca16,

You can do this problem in a few different ways. I've created a helper column and then counted the number of 1's using one method. The other method created a pivot table and then does a CountA to see how many different people there are. See attached.

    Re: Pivot table help

    Hi ca,

I've attached an example workbook below my answer above. Double Click on the blue text under my answer above and it should download and open (depending on your browser) so you can look at my Helper Column and Pivot Table to see my formulas.

I hope that helps. If now then keep asking.
