    Excel footer image file location

    I want to modify footer picture of an excel file. I first tried to get the location of the picture using "ActiveSheet.PageSetup.CenterFooterPicture.Filename". The filename is shown but it does not show up file path. Does it mean that the file is hiding somewhere in the spread sheet itself and its not from any system folder? How do I get the actual location of the picture inserted here?

    Goose,
    I tried whatever you said, but there are no hidden tabs here!

    Once the image has been inserted it is not linked to the version in your file system. So you can not retrieve the file location.

    Is there a particular reason you want to know the file location?

    Andy,
    Do you mean that we can never get file location of a picture inserted into footer? Sorry I quite did not get linking to file system. When I tried inserting a picture from my machine C drive into excel footer and run a macro on ""ActiveSheet.PageSetup.CenterFooterPicture.Filename"" it shows the file location something line "C:\Others"

    Cheers

    The path name is there until you save and reopen the workbook.

    If that was not the case you first and last post would not make sense as it answers your own question.

    @Goose, not sure what you mean. Once the file has been reopened the path information to the image has gone. Or do you know some code to get it?

    The actual image is contained within the workbooks internal structure, in order to be able to render it. With the new .xlsx file format it is simple to extract the image file.

    @Andy,
    You are right. When I saved and reopened the file location of my new spreadsheet also gone. As I am new to this footer pictures, I was not knowing this. Now as I cannot get the file location, I created new picture and replaced the older one.

    @Goose,
    not sure what you mean by path name visibility.
