    2 values in one cell

This is almost certainly a daft question.

Is there a way of entering 2 values into one cell, one normally visible, the other hidden?

The reason I ask is I have a very cramped worksheet with too many columns, and would like to be able to 'combine' their data in some sense.

    Thanks as always

    K

There is no such thing as a daft question if it needs asking!

No, but you can hide columns, so why not do that?

Thanks & yes, I agree. I could use the view zoom option to reduce everything to 80%, or change the fonts. A hidden value was a faint hope, Thanks

Re: 2 values in one cell

Hi & thanks. I do use drop down lists etc. and I don't think it would help here. The basic problem is too many columns to show easily together. I can scroll left-right ok but really need to see the entire row.

For example, one of the columns is called 'category'. Categories have sub-categories but I can't squeeze in another column. It would be nice to have the subcat 'hidden' in the category in some sense. But I think I have to bite the bullet & reduce font size or zoom out. K

Why not show us the workbook?

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

You might want to try the "Group" option in the data tab

This good, deep respect. Similar to 'hide' but so convenient to switch columns on/off.

    Mega thanks

Re: 2 values in one cell

There's one caveat with the grouping option, and that is that it is inoperable if the sheet is protected. In your case, this might not be a problem, however.
