Selection too large, error, excel 2007

Hi all.

I have a very big workbook with about 14 sheets. Trying to copy a row of cells down in one sheet gives me a 'selection too large' error. I've not met this before.

I can copy a few columns a few rows at a time, but is my workbook getting too big ?

It can be one of 2 things - Excel has limits to both.
1) The selection you are copying is to large for Excel to handle. Try breaking the copy into 2 or more portions then paste each one.
2) A lot of formatting on the sheet(s) - remove the formatting then copy and paste.

Thanks for this. I removed the formatting and it didn't seem to help. I also tried rebooting, and that does seemed to have cured the problem. I had been doing a lot of copy/paste so perhaps the cache got full?

That is a possibility...or the clipboard was full.
