Talking Auto change a letter in selected cells to something else, automatically show the total

    Hello new to the form.

I have an Excel sheet with column where I keep track if I received a document. So the answers can either be Yes or No. Is there a way to have y/Y answers autofill/autocorrect to Yes? Where simply typing y or Y will automatically change to Yes?

Then have another cell, where I automatically populate the total number of Yes answers so I can keep a running total at the top of the sheet. I tried googling it and non of the answers seemed to work. Thank you in advance!

This is Excel 2010 for a PC.

The first time you need to enter "Yes" in full, and then as long as the cells below it are contiguous you only need to type Y or y and Excel will auto-correct to Yes, so you just press Enter. The same for No.

To get a running count, you can use a formula like this:

    =COUNTIF(A$2:A$100,"y*")

    Hope this helps.
