how to separate column values

Hi,

I have the following in one column
A1BG|1
A1CF|29974
A2BP1|54715
A2LD1|87769
A2ML1|144568
A2M|2


There are 2 values(name|number) separated by a "|" , and I want to make the first values(name) in a column and the other numbers in another column

so the out put will be

column1     column2
A1BG             1
A1CF              29974
A2BP1            54715
A2LD1            87769
A2ML1            144568
A2M                2
