Macro step to go directly to a tab on the ribbon

I would like to have a simple macro that would:
- go to the "Data" tab on the ribbon
- display the choices under the "From Other Sources" icon (in the "Get External Data" group)
- select "From Microsoft Query", in said choices. At this point, a dialog box should open up for the user to locate a file, and the macro can stop.

I have tried to record the macro as I perform the actions, but for some reason the steps are not registering. When I look at the macro's content, none of the steps are recorded. I did enable to workbook for macros. Is there an obvious step I overlooked?

Ribbon actions are not recorded.

Start recording again, but this time, pick a file and follow through. Once the data loads, stop the macro. Go to the VBE and make changes to the code to ask for file.

Something like this. (Off the top of my head.)
