Break Spacing Ideas for a shift builder

    Hi all,

I am looking for ideas that would help me allocate break times evenly on shift building spreadsheet.

I have tried a couple of options but due to the amount of calculations involved it is making the sheet run very slow, due to this I would like to look for a simpler formula or method of doing this.

I am struggling to upload something to show as I haven't put anything together for this particular aspect of the sheet, I know I am not being very specific but I'm not actually sure how or what I need to do so was just looking for ideas?

Re: Break Spacing Ideas for a shift builder

    Questions to consider :

    How many employees ?

How long is break time : 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hr ?

How many employees need to remain "on duty" while others are on break ?

Is this for just one shift or several different shifts ?

How long are the shifts ?

If you have a spreadsheet with the proposed shift/work schedules .. post that with psuedo names, etc. Nothing confidential should be included.

The above will give a start to solving your questions.

    hi,

I have attached snippet of the example as the excel upload button is not working on my browser. This includes the time scales each break can be scheduled for arguments sake breaks are 15mins and lunches are 30. I have shown examples of when I want the breaks and if I have 5 people on the same start I don't want them on break altogether.

    Hi guys,

I have managed to upload an example shift builder, first tab shows the rota and the second is how many people need to go on break 1, lunch or break 2 dependant on their start time. On the second tab there is also an explanation of the rules.

I don't know if this needs VBA or Formulas but willing to accept any help.

    Thanks again.
