Hi everyone. I noticed sometimes when I run a find command it doesn't always find what I am searching. I've even copy/pasted what I was looking for as a test, and it still didn't find it...even though it was on the same spreadsheet where I started the find command.
I noticed this is the case even when I selection Options and change the range to within workbook instead of merely within sheet. Can anyone explain why this might be happening?
Maybe you could post a workbook with an example.

I would but the workbook in question has sensitive info in it. If I come across another example I will post.
Find is case-sensitive - Copy is not the same as copy
Search is not case-sensitive, Copy is the same as copy
Try that?

Find doesn't appear to be case-sensitive. I just typed "copy" in a cell and found it with "Copy". Also, even when I checked the box to account for case-sensitivity, it still didn't find it (in my original problem).
Ford is talking about the Excel FIND and SEARCH functions. I assume you're talking about Find from the UI, via Ctrl+F.
I doubt the the problem is because the information is sensitive. You could strip the workbook bare to the single word that refuses to be found.but the workbook in question has sensitive info in it
If you are talking abou Excel's Find & Select>Find... the problem could be that the settings are retained between searches.
That means that if you were to use Find with the Look in option set to Formulas and Search to By Rows those settings would persist.

Yes, I'm referring to Excel's find function, not Windows. I will try to strip the workbook, save for the word to see if that makes a difference.
