when adding a new column and gving it a title, excel places a 2 at end

I have been using format as table, and copied some data, removed formatting fro it, then added the format as table, and on one of the cells in the top row that is a header, it adds a number 2 at the end, why is this? and it has not happened in any of my other documents.

It is vey annoying, and I cannot seem to get it to give up that 2 at the end

Tables must have unique column headings - you sure there isn't another (hidden maybe) column with the same heading?
