[Stats Final Project ( Urgent)] RAND COPY+PASTE Problem

    Hello All,

I am working on an AP STATS project, I need to have randomized values in the A1 column in order to sort the data and select 200 data points, making it truly randomized. I was using this tutorial: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Random-Sample-in-Excel. Unfortunately it won't let me copy + paste the function =RAND() to the selected rows. I have attached some images.

    Thank you

Not knowing what you're doing makes it hard to speculate.

Put the formula in one cell and copy down?

The error message is telling you that the area you are trying to paste to is not contiguous. What range are you selecting for the paste? Your image doesn't show all of it. Click on A2 (which appears to have your formula), hold the SHIFT key and then press the Down Arrow to highlight the cells you want to put the formula in. Then click CTRL+d to fill down.

Re: [Stats Final Project ( Urgent)] RAND COPY+PASTE Problem

Basically I have 41833 rows of data that I need random numbers for, of which I will sort from lowest to greatest and pick 200 entries from the top. The problem I face is that I can't copy and paste the function =RAND() for each of those rows. I get those two errors.

EDIT: @6StringJazzer the CTRL+d method worked for me, thank you so very much for your help! FYI my stats project is finding the significance of the difference in the wage gap between asian and white women in corporate America. Thx for pitching in!
